My journey

Updated: Oct 16

Hi, I’m Jodie.

My journey to a more natural, grounded lifestyle began back in 2008, during a time when my days were filled with the hustle and bustle of urban life.

My world revolved around commuting, working on the pool deck, and living with little connection to nature.

It wasn’t until I rediscovered gardening and homeschooling that everything began to shift.

I’ll never forget the thrill of harvesting my very first vegetable – a zucchini!

That feeling of watching something grow from seed to fruit was pure magic. Soon, I found myself rushing home every day, eager to tend to my little garden. I even shared the bounty with a few unexpected critters (though I’m still not sure who exactly was snacking alongside me!).

My curiosity about sustainable living grew, and I started diving deeper. I took classes in flower farming, herbal medicine, and beekeeping.

But the real transformation came when, after almost a decade of searching, we found the perfect spot away from the city.

It was there, surrounded by nature, that I truly put down roots—both literally and figuratively.

Over the years, I’ve learned most of what I know through books, YouTube videos, short courses, and, of course, plenty of trial and error.

Now, through Karuah Blooms, I’m excited to share that knowledge and passion with you. I want to help others experience the beauty of flowers and herbs in all their forms—from adorning your kitchen table to creating herbal teas or drying them for keepsakes.

At first, I thought my dream was homesteading—growing my own food, collecting our own eggs for breakfast, and living off the land.

And while that dream has become a reality, I’ve also embraced something bigger: futuresteading.

This mindset goes beyond just self-sufficiency; it’s about making mindful choices today to create a better tomorrow. Whether that’s reducing waste, reusing cardboard for compost, or finding ways to nurture my garden while respecting the earth, it’s all part of a deeper connection to nature.

For those of you just beginning your journey, I’ve created a collection of eBooks and challenges designed to help you get started from the comfort of your own home. Whether you're focused on shifting your mindset, discovering your passions, or learning practical steps toward sustainable living, these resources will guide you each step of the way. You don't have to wait until you have a garden of your own to start—begin right where you are and watch your own dreams bloom.

For me, the peace, serenity, and simplicity that come with living in tune with the seasons are unmatched.

It’s a lifestyle that strips away the noise and stress, allowing space for real joy—joy that Mother Nature always intended for us.

Through Karuah Blooms, I hope to inspire others to find that same sense of fulfillment and connection. Wether it's growing your own herb pot or an entire patch!!

Let’s bloom together, one flower at a time. 🌸
